Totally agree with the meaning of the verb. I was more curious at the time
if you had any info on the timing of group/pair spawning when fertilization
success may be higher. I was very intrigued by your observation and the
coordination of coloration with the event.
What prompted my comment was last year at the Birch Aquarium in La Jolla
CA, a captive female Giant Seabass was observed fully hydrated and
releasing eggs. What was interesting is that this female did not have a
male counterpart to spawn with. Fascinating that season cues and [...]
