Stephanie Green is an ecologist who is passionate about finding creative ways to understand and conserve the ocean. Her research blends community ecology, quantitative modelling, and economics to create tools that inform ocean management decisions. She completed her Ph.D. at Simon Fraser University, where she documented the ecological effects of predation by invasive Indo-Pacific lionfish on Atlantic fish communities. She is currently a Smith Fellow at Oregon State University, working in partnership with NOAA and the National Park Service to identify optimal strategies for achieving invasive species control within marine protected areas. Her experience working across the Caribbean as an affiliate scientist with the Reef Environmental Education Foundation and co-founder of the aquatic conservation network Coastal Connection has taught her that people who work together can most effectively create change.
