The passing of Prof. Ivan Goodbody
I was saddened to learn of the not unexpected passing of Prof. Ivan
Goodbody, one of the godfathers of Caribbean marine biology as well as
fisheries science. I first met him through meetings of the Association
of Island Marine Laboratories of the Caribbean (AIMLC) in the early
1970s. He filled many roles in the AIMLC and was its informal
historian. In scientific meetings he was a formidable questioner in the
Oxbridge style, which forced presenters to think critically with no
