Lionfish

Lionfish are native to the Indo-Pacific, so they are 'invasive' anywhere else. Hundreds are now found throughout the Gulf of Mexico. Scientists at Harte Institute have found lionfish from shallow reefs to depths below 300 feet!

With 26 acres of lush tropical plants and some 1,600 animals, the Gladys Porter Zoo is a zoological and botanical park nestled in the center of Brownsville, Texas. It is known for its successes in breeding endangered species of wildlife.

Of all the zoos I have visited, I found this zoo the best as far as being able to view the animals, birds and such without having to look through wire mesh and the like. (14-01-21-3251)
