Announcing the USM Challenge for Fisher Travel Support

USM Provides Support for Fishers, Challenges Others to Do the Same

At the 2014 annual meeting of the Gulf and Caribbean Fisheries Institute
(GCFI) in Barbados, the University of Southern Mississippi's Gulf Coast
Research Laboratory pledged $2,500 over the upcoming years to support
fishers' travel to future GCFI conferences. Read Hendon, director of USM's
Center for Fisheries Research and Development, committed to providing the
financial support and challenged other institutions and organizations to
match or provide additional funding to ensure that fishers continue to be a
